Our Story - Introduction

"God works in mysterious ways His wonders to perform." Well, we have certainly seen that verse fulfilled many times over in the last three years. Who would have thought that our lives would change so much in such a relatively short time? This part of our story starts in the year 2000. We had been doing missionary work for many years in the field of Brazil, almost 19 years for myself, and 9 years for my wife, Esther. It seemed it was time for a change. Actually, to give credit where credit is due, it was Esther's faith that got us rolling when she suggested we go to China. She shared with me an article by a missionary in China that stirred in our hearts the faith to launch out in a new direction. Here was a country so needy where most of the people didn't even know the name of Jesus. After the initial, "Gulp! Move to China?!" phase passed, we began to get excited about the idea!

Of course, before making such a major decision we had to check in with our Boss to see how He felt about the idea. So we prayed and sought Him and, as always, He came through. He showed us that our little family was like a boat on a mighty river. We had been safely tied up to the dock for many years, and that was good. But it was now time to loose the mooring and let our boat go out into the current so that it could take us where He wanted us to go. Little did we know that where that current would take us would be full of surprises, twists and turns. We were about to embark on the ride of our lives!
